Abstract

Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is one of the economic data sets that can be used to evaluate the economic development performance of a region (province or regency/city). This data set can also be used for other purposes and interests, such as as a basis for developing economic models in the framework of formulating policies, the rate of acceleration of the money supply (velocity of money), financial deepening, tax determination, export studies and import and so on. According to macroeconomic theory, the calculation of GRDP can be done through three approaches: the production/supply approach (GDP according to Business Field/industry), the expenditure/final demand approach (GDP according to expenditure) and the income approach (GDP according to income/income). The three approaches to calculation will theoretically produce the same GDP figure. This publication specifically discusses GRDP according to the final expenditure/demand approach. This approach is broken down into several components: Household Consumption Expenditure, Consumption Expenditures for Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households, Government Consumption Expenditures, Investment (Gross Fixed Capital Formation and Inventory Changes), Foreign Exports, Foreign Imports, and Inter-Regional Net Exports (inter-regional exports minus inter-regional imports). GRDP data in this publication and subsequent publications use the 2010 base year, and have implemented the 2008 System of National Accounts concept as recommended by the United Nations.
